I have been looking into some better music profile promotion tactics to use not because I make music but because I read how others see online profiles and generally people do not like social networking profiles that are purley self promotional. As a rule most twitter accounts that follow more than are being followed are considered bad accounts to follow or spam accounts just because they follow more than they are being followed. But if you have done something like created a piece of music or a song it was not something that took you five minutes and it is also something that people like to hear over again. So twitter for people who make music is not the same as normal twitter accounts such as business or service accounts. They have to follow a mutitute of accounts to expand on their creativity and following your fans so they can give you private feedback about your music is also an advantage, Since music like writing is one of those things you do and unless it’s done correctly people will say you are off your head or just ignore you we all know that if you do something great everyone will provide feedback but if you are doing just one thing wrong the whole concept is ignored and no one will tell you what it is.
Here is what I find is wrong with most musical profiles online I am not a profile expert or anything but this is just how I see most artists are using social networking sites.
Most Musicians tweet their music links too often
Nothing looks worse than a twitter profile that is retweeting the same links over and over again, Actually you should keep your twitter stream about 80% conversation and 20% links to make it look natural since social networking promotion is allow about engaging with your fans.
They Have A Badly Designed Or No Website
When I visit an online profile for anyone promoting music I expect to see they have a homepage somewhere I can learn more about them and listen to their music and watch their videos if they have any. If you don’t have a website I recommend using something like an about.me page which is an easy to use platform something like a website where you list all of your social networking profiles and activities in one consise uncluttered environment. It’s easy to setup as an emergency website because if you don’t have a website and are promoting music online it is an emergency. A second option is to use something like banzoogle who provided an easy to create and maintain user interface with focus on musicians and bands. You can try it for free for the first month and then it costs just $9.95 after that which is still less expensive than getting your website made by a professional developer. I am not affiliated with them but I feel that telling people about their service is my duty as a blogger and since the first month is free it’s not going to cost you anything to try it out. If you would like a site like this one you will need to know something about self hosting but it will only cost you $4.95 per month if you use the hosting service I do which is fast and reliable and allows you to create many types of websites
Not Using Advertising To Promote Their Music
Have you ever heard of Adwords it’s a way of advertising to targeted audiences through search related terms just say someone is looking for music like linkin park without words I could create an advert for this blog post I made earlier today and target it to certain demographics such as age groups and locations. Then I would set a daily budget and a maximum cost per click or just pay per impression. Another alternative to adwords is 7search but they have a minimum upfront payment of $25 but have lower cost per click advertising rates but also much less of an audience exposure.

Which Methods Do You Use To Promote Your Music Profiles Online
I would like to know any tactics you have used to promote your music online I find most of the music I listen to on reverbernation and soundcloud plus a few on youtube. I can’t imagine that someone who creates music can go from profile to profile making comments like I see many people who make music and are promoting it online at being a good tactic as it’s very time consuming and would leave little time for an artist to focus on the most important thing which is making music.
